The "Giving Voice to the Voiceless" initiative at the University of Georgia awarded 2023 grants to five student projects, including Oluwayomi Paseda, which focused on amplifying marginalized voices. The projects address diverse topics, including the experiences of women in abusive relationships, equity in science, indigenous rights in Peru, the restoration of historic African American burial sites, and the reentry challenges faced by formerly incarcerated Black women. The program, supported by journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault, aims to foster empathy and understanding through the promotion of underrepresented stories.
